Jaipur: Pink City Blog | Marvelous Architectures & Unbound Beauty

Jaipur, Rajasthan’s capital, is an enthralling historical city. The city’s colourful, chaotic streets flow with a heady brew of old and new.  It has a lot to cater if you love tradition and culture.
I was also thrilled by its colour and culture and yet decided to explore the city. I planned for a short trip to the Pink City. And, the best way to discover the city’s hidden gems is by taking a walk through its bustling lanes.
I traveled there in the month of January so it was a pleasant soothing weather to explore. To blend in the majestic city, the first place I stopped by was the majestic 'City Palace'. It is the palace with sprawling complex with arresting buildings and collection of marvelous artifacts. I just couldn't stop myself from taking pictures and cherishing the royalty of the place. Present in the heart of the old city of Jaipur, the city palace proves the style and elegance of the Rajput royalties.
While you will explore the small and big on the road. Don't miss the delectable cuisines of Rajasthan here. Yes, I am talking about the authentic Rajasthani dishes that are really high on the taste quotient. Althrough I visited a lot of stalls and restaurant to try the delicious cuisines of Jaipur. But the Laxmi Misthan Bhandaar in Johri Bazaar took away my heart. I tried their Rajasthani special thaali and it was just delicious. I felt that savouring the dishes here is not just about tasting the local cuisines- it is a cultural experience!

Next I stopped by to explore very interesting ‘Palace of the Winds’ called Hawa Mahal. It is believed that the structure was made for the royal ladies to observe the everyday bustling life in the streets without being seen under the obligation to ‘purdah’. The five-story building is in the shape of a semi-octagonal structure, with 953 small windows (jharokhas), akin to the honeycomb of a beehive. Well, its interesting to explore a place when you have done your home work on knowing about its interesting history! It adds to the adventure...
Well while I was there in Jaipur I just wanted to explore and do a lot of shopping. As you know Rajasthan is famous for its traditional jootis, colorful ghagras and the beautiful jholas with small mirrors stitched to it. So to get the best of these, I went for the shopping in places like Johari Bazaar, Nehru Bazaar, and Bapu Bazaar where I got lucky and found a lot of quirky items for my home decor as well.
I went to Amber Fort on the next day which is located on the outskirts of Jaipur. The mahal is beautiful with infinite mirrors used over the walls. And while I was here, I also did elephant ride which feels royal. You must not miss this royal elephant ride as it helps you get the idea how the royal people in past traveled up here. That is super interesting and adventurous.
Rich in culture and unbound beauty the pink city Jaipur took away my heart. As I was on a short trip, so I couldn't explore much. I would definitely go back to explore all the left places. If you are passionate about marvelous architectures then Jaipur is a place for you!
