Betta Fish: Know how I take care of my Beautiful Little Pet
Hello Pet Lovers! Today I am gonna tell you about my Betta fish and how I take care of it. Firstly, I have named it 'Dorry'. Yes, it is inspired from the movie 'Nemo'. Well guys I will try to cover every aspect about Betta Fish and how to take care of it below. Also if you are new in keeping a fish then also this blog will help you.
The Siamese fighting fish, or betta, is a vibrantly-colored fish often seen swimming solo in brandy sniffers and ornamental vases in both the office and home. It is interesting to know that bettas tend to be aware of their surroundings, like to explore their environment, claim personal areas, and they often develop amusing personality “quirks”. They are good learner and quickly learn to recognize their human companions. As they know when feeding time is, and they get excited when you approach their aquarium.
Is it Difficult to keep a Betta? Ofcorse! There are no 'easy' pets in the World! But yes bettas are easier to care for than many other types of fish. They need less space than other fishes. They can survive in water with lower oxygen levels than other types of fish. Bettas also live in freshwater, which requires an aquarium environment that is easier to set up and maintain than saltwater.
Teach Your Betta Fish Tricks
It is super interesting and fun time to train a Betta. When I started training my Betta, we developed a bond. Like us Humans, fishes can also get bored so it’s also good for your pet as it keeps them active and helps prevent boredom. With patience you can teach it to do things like follow your finger, eat from your hand, swim through a hoop, and even jump out of the water or come up to be petted.
Maintaining Water Quality & Tank
When cleaning a betta's tank or bowl, make sure you only take out a third of the water each time and replace it with fresh water. This will gently allow the fish to adjust to the temperature and pH of clean water - while not upsetting the biological balance of the fish's environment. If your water has a high level of chlorine in it, you may need to add a drop of declorinator to the tap water before adding it to the tank or bowl. And never use soap to clean off fish ornaments or decorations. This will harm the fish.
Choose Right Habitat for Your Betta
Your betta will be happiest and healthiest in an aquarium with a filter and heater. One of the reasons bettas are so popular as aquatic pets is that they’re relatively easy to take care of and they don’t require a massive amount of space. When deciding what to place your betta tank on, remember that the full weight of a decorated and filled aquarium is approximately 10 lbs. per gallon. Bettas prefer slightly acidic water (pH 6.5 to 7) and warm water. Cold water can suppress the immune system and cause illness.
Bettas make great pets for beginning and experienced aquarists alike. Unlike some fish species, they are highly interactive and you can truly “bond” with them. The beauty of bettas also rivals many saltwater fish. There is an endless variety of colors and fin types which means there’s a betta for just about everyone!
